La Passacaglia BOM

Hi friends! We have been working on this for a LONG time and we’re so thrilled it’s finally coming to fruition. The La Passacaglia quilt by Willyne Hammerstein has been on my quilty bucket list for SO long. Our plan is to take the original, and reimagine it to make it a little more approachable, attainable, and sew it together, Pink Door style! This version will be larger than the original, which makes the pieces a little easier to work with, and even a beginner can tackle this English Paper Piecing project! Our kit will be done exclusively in Tula Pink fabrics in a rainbow ombré effect and finishes at approximately 80" x 90"! We hope you’ll join us!! 

 

Give me the details: It will be an 18-month-long progressive sew-along. What does this mean? Each month you’ll receive an installment of fabric, paper pieces and an exclusive Pink Door Fabrics cutting assistant to complete a portion of the quilt. In case you’re not familiar with our cutting assistants, we break each block down into manageable chunks, and show you exactly where each fabric goes. We take the guesswork and complication out of a quilt this size! As for the progressive part - we will be incorporating Tula Pink’s upcoming fabric lines over the course of the quilt-along. Since some of those haven’t been released yet, we aren’t able to show you the future blocks just yet. Each month, we’ll reveal that month’s fabrics and blocks. 

 

What will I get as part of the block of the month? Your first shipment will include a set of custom acrylic templates for the Pink-Door-Size La Passacaglia quilt with 3/8” seam allowance. Each month, you’ll receive an installment of Tula Pink fabric, paper pieces, the exclusive cutting assistant, 2-pack of Sewline glue pen refills, and an optional coordinating Aurifil thread-set add on that will be custom curated to the fabrics used that month. We will also be sending special super-secret surprise goodies throughout the sew along. Lastly, we have an exclusive Facebook group with custom video tutorials to get you started off on the right foot, as well as a community of your fellow block of the month participants. 

When will it start? Fabric and kits will begin shipping in July, 2021 and run for 18 months. Each month’s blocks will be broken down into manageable chunks so that it’s achievable! 

What will it cost? There is a one-time startup cost of $119 for templates and paper pieces, and then $42 (without coordinating thread) or $52 (with 2 coordinating spools of thread) plus shipping each month thereafter. Since we are placing the orders for the materials for the Block of the month so far in advance, unfortunately NO CANCELLATIONS WILL BE PERMITTED. The Millefiori Book must be purchased in advance and it will ship separately. 

If you'd prefer to sew along but use your own fabric, we have a third option - we will provide paper pieces and templates for you, and provide a blank cutting assistant for you to fill in on your own with your chosen fabrics, as well as access to the Facebook Group for additional support. This will cost $16.95 per month plus shipping.

SHIPPING

$7 per month to US domestic locations, $8 per month to Canada, and $11 to INTL locations. Shipping costs can increase at any time; we work with our vendors to ensure we're shipping as inexpensively as possible at all times. However, we reserve the right to increase shipping or fabric costs.

A few notes: 

  • This is a HAND-SEWN QUILT, using the English Paper Piecing method. It is not able to be machine-pieced. 
  • Final size is approximately 80" x 90". You can opt to add a border to make it larger.
  • Once signups close, we are UNABLE TO ADD/DELETE/CHANGE ANY SUBSCRIPTIONS. 
  • You will need the book, Millefiori Quilts, in order to complete this quilt. The pattern is ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE BOOK. 

  • DEADLINE TO ORDER BOOKS IS 5/1 TO HAVE THEM IN TIME FOR THE START OF THE SEW-ALONG.
